Origin have developed design, mechanical and production aspects of devices such as a bespoke crimper unit required to incorporate an existing co-axial stripping module and needed to be cost effective, robust and intuitive to use.
The final design was developed with the aid of a number of accelerated life tests, where durability was tested with compression forces in excess of 500 N over 26,000 repeated operations.
The crimper used Finite Element Analysis to optimise the structural rigidity, which allowed the previously used aluminium components to be moulded with a low glass concentration Nylon 6-6, reducing weight and reducing the product’s overall cost.
The success of this project was the start of a long term relationship with Technetix Limited and has led to an additional fourteen projects being completed, ranging from scientific laboratory equipment to industrial telecom connectors and termination units.
